The Shore Bite Season is Upon Us

Some days they are in hot and heavy and full of gravy.  But were you paying attention when your bobber disappeared?  Were you fast enough to?!  Or did they catch you sleeping?  It’s been a decent bite on the nice weather days, and pretty good during the storm systems.  I just heard a guy down the beach a few hundred years holler as he stuck a his best fish ever.  Talk about the excitement we all love to hear.  Hell I think that’s a good reason most of us fish.  We are all chasing some type of dragon.  Whether it be a trophy trout or that next high.  But there’s more to it than big fish.  Pyramid lake is a different monster and I’d like to think it’s the camaraderie and shore shop talk that all of us fall in love with out here.

This time of the season the fish are all throughout the lake chasing chubs.  Now is a good time of the season to explore and find new beaches as your chance is good anywhere you go.  From the top all tge way ti the bottom end of the lake.  Stripping buggers and beetles is great for those low light hours when you can’t see the bobber.  But if it’s light out and I can see that little orange ball, then damn it!  That’s what I’m throwing!  Balanced leeches have been the go to 9 times outta ten.  The midges are getting a little love but the leeches and baitfish patterns are what’s getting more attention.  Colors vary day by day so fish that confidence fly.

Everyone always asks when is the best time to come out.  My answer is always gonna be when you have some free time.  Personally I really like the change of seasons/tactics.    Now is a great time to experience these fish at their thickest and hottest times.  The chub diet gives these fish a helluva a lot more energy than a midge diet!  So if you have some time now I’d suggest giving this time of year a try if you haven’t.  Because I know where you can’t catch these fish, the couch.

The team at Pyramid Fly Co wishes everyone a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving. See you at the lake.
