The overcast days have improved the fishing on the lake, with fish a bit less on edge and more willing to chase streamers. The midge bite has slowed down will cooler air temps, and using streamers will be a great way to find fish this week. While the fish are beginning to finish up their spawn, you may still find a few attempting to make redds along the shoreline. Please leave these fish alone and target the fish cruising the deeper drop-off’s in 6-8 feet of water. The post-spawn bite should really pick up in the coming weeks, and we expect to see fish hang in shallow water for a while with the colder-than-average water temps in the lake. On calmer days, getting out on a float tube or a boat and using streamers imitating Tui Chubs, Cui-uis or Sacramento Perch will be a fun way to target the more aggressive, and often larger fish keyed in on baitfish. This should remain a great way to go through the closer as these baitfish often go back into the same pattern as they do in October or November and ball back up.
